Joseph Arthur James (1899-
Robert "Bob" Joseph James (1925-
On October 15, 1948 Bob married the love of his life Rosemarie Bevans in Mulberry,
Kansas. Rosemarie preceded him in death on October 13, 2014 just shy of 66 years
of marriage. Bob attended the vocational branch of Kansas State Teachers College
(now PSU) and graduated in 1950 with a two year electrical degree. Bob worked for
the Kansas City Southern Railway for 4 years, then took a job with Spencer Chemical
(Chevron-
Bob was also a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge #187 at Pittsburg, 55 year member of the Ft. Scott Scottish Rite, receiving his 33rd degree of the Consistory. Bob held membership in the Red Cross of Constantine, Eastern Star #74 and the York Rite of the Knights of Templar #29. He was a member of the Pittsburg Mirza Shrine, having served with the Greeters Unit. Bob enjoyed taking his family on vacations to the Ozarks and visiting various sites of interest and taking his sons out for a day of local fishing. After retirement, Bob and Rosemarie enjoyed traveling on bus trips to Canada, Mexico and all 48 states seeing the sights. He lived most of his life in Frontenac before moving to Ft. Worth, Texas in 2014 to be closer to his children.
At the time of his death, Bob was survived by three children, a daughter, Mary
Lynn (Jim) Thornton of Ft. Worth, Texas, two sons, Joe E. James of Pittsburg, Kansas
and Steve (Bonnie) James of Benbrook, Texas, six grandchildren, Krista (Michael)
Aylor, Jim (Stacy) Thornton, Maggie, Laianna, Jason, and Alex James, and three great-
Conley Allen James was born on March 3, 1932, in Frontenac, Kansas. He played football undefeated in 1950 and 1951. He was a left halfback, All Area First Team. After graduation he enrolled in the Navy and served four years in the Korean War. He then came to Astoria, Oregon, and met Beverly Lou Wallace and got married in February of 1954. They had five children. He was a successful concrete contractor. He fell ill at the age of 46 years and became disabled in 1978. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his kids, family and friends.
In 2000, his wife passed away from cancer. He then went back to his home town
of Frontenac, Kansas, to be with family and friends. He attended his class reunion
and was also awarded military honors. His granddaughter graduated from Frontenac
High School in 2006 and then moved to Bend, Ore., with daughter, Mindy Brooks. He
fell ill and went into the hospital for a month and a half. He went on hospice and
went home to be with daughter Mindy, and son, Jeff James, until his death on November
12, 2006. At the time of his death, his sons, Marshall James and Jeff James, daughter,
Mindy Brooks, and grandchildren, Ryan Brooks, Alisha Brooks, Willie Guerrero and
