1.    David Bushrod James, Jr.:  born June 16, 1905 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; married in 1932 to Edith Margaret Handy (1904-1984), daughter of Forrest Bullen Handy (1878-1942) and Edith Bell Raby (1879-ukn); died September 9, 1960 (aged 55) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (See, obituary below); buried at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; known children include: David Bushrod James, III (1936-2015).

 

2.    Mary Alice James:  born May 15, 1907 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; no known marriage; died December 26, 1982 (aged 75) in Rydal, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; no known children; survived by nieces and nephews (See, obituary below).

 

3.    William Henry James, II:  born January 12, 1912 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; married in 1939 to Jane Blankam Fuges (1914-1964), daughter of Frederick Charles Fuges (1884-1943) and Jane B. Blankarn (1887-1975); died March 27, 1966 (aged 54); buried at Moorestown Friends Cemetery in Moorestown, Burlington County, New Jersey; known children include: Susan Jane James and Mary Lynn James.

David Bushrod James, Sr. (1874-1933) was the son of William Henry James (1841-1893) of Byberry, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Sarah Eleanor Levake (circa 1846-?).

James, Lawyer, 55, Dies -  David Bushrod James, an attorney of the Union League and former president died Friday in Hahnemann Hospital. He was 55 and lived at the Cambridge Apartments, School House lane and Wissahickon lave. A graduate of the Penn Charter School, University of Pennsylvania then - the University of Pennsylvania Law School, he was a senior partner in the law firm of Moore, James, Wright and Gibbons, with offices in the Philadelphia National Bank Building. He was formerly on the board of directors of the Old York Road Country Club and was a member of Philadelphia Cricket Club, Meridian Club, Wayfarers' Club, Lawyers Club of Philadelphia, American Bar Association and Wishbone Club of the Union League. He was a trustee of the First Presbyterian Church, Germantown, and was on the board of directors of the Frankford Trust Co. He is survived by his wife, the former Edith Margaret Handy; a son, David Bushrod James, 3d; a sister, Mary Alice James, and a brother, William H. James. Services will be held at 2 P. M. Monday at Oliver H. Bair's, 1820 Chestnut st."
